The Stonehouse Residency, the brainchild of Anjanette Levert, is an emerging arts organization committed to providing artists with the space and time for pushing their projects to completion by creating an encouraging and nurturing environment to foster and inspire their creative processes. I endeavor to not only expand the appreciation of and passion for the literary arts in adults and young people, but also classical and jazz music, and non-fiction storytelling in all media. This is done through programs that support expression, education and the sharing of these arts.
Descriptively called the Stonehouse because of it’s stone front. It’s frequently been described as “The Fairy Tale House, because of the overhanging trees and the two-level stone facing. What makes this house special is that it’s one of three stone front houses built during World War II on the street. Its stones were not cut, but found limestones that were put in place and then cemented around to hold. Despite the current global environ in which we live, I wholeheartedly believe the arts will be the discipline that will fill the gaps in misunderstanding.
Located in Southwest Atlanta (near the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport), The Stonehouse serves as a writer’s residency for three writers, a writing retreat center, workshop space, a gallery, a venue for readings, concerts, film screenings, artist talks and master classes, and a safe place of learning, creativity and critical thought and discussion.
However, The Stonehouse is primarily designed as the place to relax and reflect, to think and to create, and be in the company of other creatives and nature in an urban environment.
Come create your magic at the Stonehouse.
